Lisboa Card
Frequently Asked Questions about the Lisboa Card
Answers to all questions about the Lisboa Card. Please note: when you purchase through this site, you receive a voucher which you exchange on arrival for the physical card.
Purchase & Price
How much does the Lisboa Card cost?+
The current prices for all durations (24, 48 and 72 hours, for adults and children) are shown live in the booking window on the Prices page. Children aged 4 to 15 pay a reduced child rate; from age 16 the adult rate applies.
Is there a child price?+
Children under 4 years do not need a Lisboa Card and have free admission to most museums anyway.
For children aged 4 to 15 there is a reduced child rate, available as a separate option in the booking window. From age 16, the adult rate applies.
Is the Lisboa Card worth it?+
If you plan to visit attractions and use public transport, then generally yes. Public transport alone plus two or three museums often costs more individually than the card itself.
Top highlights such as the Mosteiro dos Jeronimos, the Torre de Belem and the Castelo de Sao Jorge together already cover the card price after just a few visits. You'll find a detailed breakdown on the Prices page.
How do I receive the card after purchase?+
After purchasing online you immediately receive a voucher by email. You exchange this in Lisbon for the physical Lisboa Card - no printout is necessary, your smartphone is sufficient.
Validity & Use
When is the Lisboa Card activated and how long is it valid?+
The card is only activated on first use - for example when entering a museum or at a metro barrier. From that moment, your chosen duration of 24, 48 or 72 hours runs precisely to the hour.
If you activate a 24-hour card at 10:00, it is valid until 10:00 the following day.
How long do I have to redeem the voucher?+
You have 28 days from the date selected at purchase to exchange the voucher for the physical card. As long as you haven't activated it, the validity period has not started.
Where do I collect the Lisboa Card?+
You exchange the voucher at the official Ask Me Lisboa tourist information points - for example directly at the airport (arrivals hall) or at Praça do Comércio. You will need to show a valid ID when redeeming.
All locations with addresses and opening times are listed on the Pick-up page.
Can the Lisboa Card be transferred to someone else?+
The Lisboa Card is personal and should only be used by the person who redeemed it. Each traveller needs their own card.
